Odontaspic taurus

-The Sand Tiger Shark belongs to the Kingdom Animalia and the Phylum Chorodata.
-They inhabtat the ocean bottoms and shallow INSHORE water!
-They range from the Gulf of Maine to South Brazil and from west Florida to Texas.
-They have been known to attack people!!!
-Mating occurs between late October and the end of November.
-Then Courtship may be a lengthy process which involves the males inflicting nips on the female.
- If she is receptive, mating follows. If not, the male continues biting, inflicting wounds all over her body until she swims away.
-The pregnant females that are full term, move southward each year during July and August to give birth in early spring, and then return northward.
-Not all migrating females are sexually active and mature females generally reproduce only once every two years.
-It is very interesting that sand tigers are an example of
prebirth cannibalism.
- A single embryo develops in each uterus using nutrients it obtains a consuming yolks and fellow embryos.
