Menippe mercenaria

-The Stone Crab is in the Phylum Arthropoda and the Animal Kingdom.
-The Stone Crab can be found in sandy mud shoals, in which they burrow in, just below low-tide line. They can also be found in turtle-grass beds and shell and rock bottoms of channels.
-They areas where they range in are form North Carolina to Florida and Texas;the Bahamas; the West Indies to the Yucatan.
-The Stone Crab is the largest of the mub crab. It is also a source to the meal with eat which is crab claws!
-It illegal to take females. When a male is taken, one may break off and keep the larger, which has to be at least 4", but must return the crab to the water so that it can regenreate a new pincer.
- Most crustaceans are able to regenreate an appendage in 2 molts.
- The Stone Crab reproduces by mating with a "Jimmy" and laying eggs.
