Cenchrus tribuloides

-The Sand Bur belongs to the Kingdom Plantae and the Phylum Porifera.
-The Sand Bur can be found in coastal sands; land side of barrier dunes and across secondary dunes.
-They range in the areas of South New York to Flordia, and westward to Louisana.
-They prefer sandy soils to grow in.These plants are not loved by humans because of their sharp spines that attach easily to clothing and are hard to untangle from clothing. The seeds are produced by mid summer.
-The Sand bur is a useful stabilizer of dunes.
- They can grow up to 1-1 1/2' (30-45cm) in height and have long and narrow leaves.
