-The Snook is in the Kingdom Animalia and the Phylum chordata.
-They inhabitat shallow coastal waters, lagoons, estuaries, canals, and fresh water.
-They range from the coastla mid-Atlantic United States to Brazil, includign the Gulf Mexico and the Caribbean, with the center of abundance being coastal Florida.
-The Snook is restricted by water temperature to tropical and subtropical North, Central and South America.
-They are sensitive to low temperatures, and avoids water cooler than 61 degrees F (16 degrees C).
-They feed on other fishes and variuos crustaceans.
-They are unable to spawn in fresh water becasue the sperm can only activated in saline waters.
-They usually spawn at the mouths of rivers, inlets and canals. The spawning activity in this species is also likely related to food.
